In the fall of 2008, Yankee Stadium saw its final ballgame. The most famous sports facility in the world has hosted baseball games (and occasional football games) since 1923. At the beginning of the 2009 season, the Yankees will play next door to in a new $1.3 billion facility.
I visited the ballpark in the fall of 2007 to experience and document several games toward the end of the park's penultimate season. My goal was to capture memorable images of the fans, the players, the atmosphere and the architecture of this soon-to-be-demolished landmark.
Special thanks to HMC Architects for generously funding this trip through their [x]ref program.
